It's one of your home's most personal spaces and also one of the most important to stage properly. Done right and prospective buyers will imagine themselves unwinding in luxury after a hectic day. Done wrong and it serves as a nagging reminder of all they need to do.

"As much as homebuyers like to think about principal rooms and main-level living where they'll entertain, the master bedroom should convey the lifestyle they're buying into it," says Allison Roberts of Burloak Home Staging and Design in Burlington.

"People want to dream that they're going to buy out of the mess they're living with now."
